Some things we need to know

The Parents Charter

1. The Parent must ensure that the Player arrives by the appointed time for training sessions and matches.

2. The Parent must inform the Coach, as far in advance as possible if the Player will not be available for a training session or match. It is important to do this as teamlines are prepared on Tuesday evenings after training, and any absentees may be left off the following Sundays teamlines for the game and therefore ineligible to play.

3. The Parent must inform the Coach of any illness or ailment that may affect the performance or health of the Player.

4. The Parent should inform the Coach of any games that the Player has been asked to participate in, other than their school game.

5. The Parent must encourage all players during the match regardless of the result of the game. 

6. The Parent should not give instructions to the players during the match or at the half-time interval.  This is the responsibility of the coach.

7. The Parent must always behave appropriately when supporting the Team, bad language and threats of violence whether towards the Players or other supporters will be classed as misconduct and will be dealt with in conjunction with the Club Constitution and SYFA/DDYFA rules and guidelines.

8. The Parent should support the Coach or Coaches.

9. All Parents and supporters must remain behind the barrier barrier or cones placed around the pitch.

 

Coaches Charter and Code of Conduct

1.  The Coach or Coaches must respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and treat everyone equally within the context of the sport.

2.  The Coach or Coaches must place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.

3.  The Coach or Coaches must develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect.

4.  The Coach or Coaches must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.

5.  The Coach or Coaches must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.

6.  The Coach or Coaches must ensure that the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity and ability of players.

7.  The Coach or Coaches should, at the outset, clarify with the player (and where appropriate their parents)  exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach.

8.  The Coach or Coaches must co-operate fully with other specialists in the best interest of the player.

9.  The Coach or Coaches must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the Laws of the game or the use of prohibited substances and techniques.

10. The Coach or Coaches must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance.

11. The Coach or Coaches must ensure that their overall priority is to make learning fun and that children are progressed to their maximum potential in both individual and team skills.

12. The Coach or Coaches must be conversant and abide by the SYFA Codes of Conduct.

The Players Charter

1. The Player must ensure that they have the appropriate equipment for each occasion:

Clean footwear and kit.

The correct footwear for the playing surface.

Shin Pads.

Safety Glasses where required

Earrings removed or taped up

2. The player should give maximum effort and strive for their best performance during a game or training session.

3. The player must not use inappropriate language, gamesmanship or time wasting tactics. They must set a positive example for others, particularly for younger players and supporters.

4. The player must safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play and help injured opponents where possible. Always remember the referee's decisions are to be respected at all times during matches.

5. The player must accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally. They must treat opponents with due respect at all times irrespective of the result of the game.

6. Players must respect this charter and understand that any breaches may result in consequences which would lead to the player being suspended from playing, or from playing for the Club.
